Buxton has a wealth of Georgian and Victorian architecture, many stylish shops, cafes and restaurants, and world-class acts appearing at the stunning Opera House. The Pavilion Gardens consist of 23 acres of recently restored pleasure gardens with lakes, bandstand, Pavilion, restaurants and swimming pool - the perfect place to relax and unwind. Buxton is also the home to the famous Buxton Festival and to Buxton Spa water which can be sampled in the town’s Pump Room. A major attraction to the west of the town is Pooles Cavern, a natural limestone cave once inhabited by primitive man. Adjoining the site is a country park from which footpaths lead to Solomon's Temple on Grin Low providing extensive views over Buxton.
